Rotary International District 7470

Youth Exchange Program - Northern New Jersey

Rotary High School Student Foreign Youth Exchange
It is the goal of Rotary International to enable students to advance their education and world understanding. This is done by allowing a student the opportunity to attend a secondary school system in a foreign country. At the same time, the student will be living with one or more host families in their adopted land under the sponsorship of a host Rotary Club while they study abroad.

Each year northwest New Jersey's Rotary International District 7470 offers both a year long-term school program (full school or calendar year) and a 3 to 6 week short-term cultural youth exchange program with several countries for teenagers from local NJ high schools. The countries we exchange with are generally the same from year to year, but we do add and remove exchanges as we are a flexible organization and like to develop new friendships throughout the world.
High School Study Abroad
For 2006-2007, our exchanges are between the United States and the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Japan, and Spain.  We also exchange with  Mexico, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Thailand, and Turkey and are always open to other exchanges. If you are a high school student living in Essex, Morris, Sussex or Warren counties and Bernardsville and Basking Ridge in Somerset County in New Jersey and are interested in studying overseas for one school year or are in junior or senior high school and are interested in a 3 to 6 week one-to-one exchange with a student from another country, please fill out a preliminary application and send it to us. Once we receive your preliminary application, we will send you a complete Rotary Youth Exchange Program application package. Click here or on the box on the right to fill out the YEP preliminary short application form.
Become a Host Family in New Jersey
If you are interested in hosting students on foreign exchanges in the United States, please contact us for details on how you can become a host family in the above areas of NJ. Note that you may see the Rotary Youth Exchange Program referred to as RYE or YEP. These are all the same RI high school exchange program.
