Outbound Parent Financial Obligation
The parents of an Outbound Exchange Student are required to undertake the following financial obligations:
- The cost of transportation of the student to and from the host country.
- A contingency/emergency fund of $500.00. This fund must be replenished should it become low.
- All clothing needs of the student while abroad.
- Insurances. Students must have medical and hospital insurance, the minimum coverage must be $500,000 for medical coverage and not less that $10,000 coverage for accidental death plus other items, which will be reviewed with parents at time of interview. You are required to purchase U. S. insurance before leaving. you will need to purchase it from CISI - Bolduc. You will receive this material from the committee when a country has accepted your child. The cost from CISI - Bolduc varies from $240.00 - $600.00 per year depending on the plan. Some countries require students to also take their insurance. Cost of their insurance varies with the country but most countries that require insurance charge between $300 - $600.
- Language training. Some countries require students to go to language school and charge extra for this, (approximately $100 - $200).
- Application fee. There is a $130.00 for long term and $100.00 for short term exchange processing fee due at the time of the candidate's interview and it not refundable. This is made out to: Rotary District 7470 Youth Exchange Program, Inc.
